Project type: Website redesign mockup
Date: Spring 2022
My team and I conducted research and compiled the information into a redesign of MSU's Digital Scholarship Lab website. After doing a heuristic evaluation of the initial website and using similar websites to competitively analyze, I was in charge of creating all of the digital mockups. In addition to the mockup, we created a full usability test plan to incorporate the public into research on how to improve the website.
This is the mockup redesign I created for the DSL homepage. We found some inconsistencies within the design such irregular glow on images, unnecessarily long boxes around text, no search bar, etc. Our main focus was to fix these. Made using IbisPaint on iOS

This is a redesign I created for the "Reserve a Space" page. This page had a very unbalanced layout for text, so we proposed evening it out. Made using IbisPaint on iOS

This is a redesign I created for the "FAQ" page. Initially you had to scroll through the entire page and read through paragraphs of text to find what you were looking for, so we changed it to use dropdown menu's, therefore making the experience much easier and more aesthetically pleasing. Made using IbisPaint on iOS

My 3 teammates and I conducted a heuristic analysis on the DSL website. 0 means no issues, 4 means severe issues. We found that while it did not have many significant issues, there were some areas to focus on.

In conclusion we found that the DSL website had some usability issues that we identified through user research. We presented these issues to the web designers as our final presentation in hopes that they could handle them.
